Cosmetic surgery is an option that many women turn to for getting rid of cellulite. By far the most popular form of cellulite reduction surgery is liposuction. This procedure can be quite expensive and like all surgeries, requires recovery time. It is an invasive procedure that works by using a suction device to remove body fat. While it does work well to remove general body fat, it may not remove all of the fat known as cellulite since it is located near the skin's surface. Many women are disappointed to find that they still have some cellulite after surgery.

A cosmetic procedure that does not qualify as surgery and therefore is not invasive is called endermology. Endermology has gained a lot of publicity in recent years and can be performed in spas and salons. It works by using the features of both suction and massage to improve circulation. Multiple treatments are required and results are generally temporary unless sessions are continued indefinitely. However, appearance is improved and invasive surgery is avoided with this method.

For those who are determined to get rid of cellulite at all costs and as quickly as possible, liposuction or endermology might be a good option. However, for most of us a less drastic approach will work just fine. Because cellulite is made of of fat deposits near the surface of the skin, many things can be done to minimize it. If you're lucky and have great genes, you might even be able to eliminate it entirely. But don't fret if it never disappears completely because there are so many options for reducing cellulite and improving the appearance of the skin that it will barely be noticed by anyone but you.

The first approach anyone suffering from cellulite should try is fat loss. If there is excess fat on the body, get rid of it by using a reputable fat loss plan. A good fat loss plan includes a healthy balanced diet, general fitness program and muscle building. Through a combination of fat loss and increased muscle tone, cellulite will be minimized dramatically.

Combining one or several other approaches with fat loss can often speed up the process of improving the skin. There are many products available on the market that promise to firm the skin and reduce cellulite. As with anything, some are better than others. Look for a product with a proven track record from a reputable company. You might try creams, gels or even wraps to improve your skin condition. You might also want to consider one of the many self tanning products available since a good tan will usually camouflage any ripples and imperfections in the skin.

Most importantly, don't give up on your cellulite fighting efforts but don't obsess about them either. Cellulite is bothersome but it is harmless to your physical health. Work to minimize it as much as possible but don't let it determine your happiness.
